The VISION

SweetRush wanted to not just be carbon neutral, but also offset the footprint of household of every employee and the carbon footprint generated by clients working on projects with SweetRush An ambitious endeavor. 

THE EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE

This initiative created a profound impact not only on the company’s sustainability but also within their company culture. All employees are invited to the annual tree planting company event, and know that every project they work on is contributing to La Maestra.  The vision of La Maestra has been so popular that it is now a collaborative effort that welcomes other companies to contribute their trees to the forest.

The solution

Green My Experience designs every forest with intention, beginning each project with the creation of a science-based project master plan which is created in partnership with forest engineers from local universities. Once the site for the forest is selected, the first step of the master planning process is to conduct an analysis of the soil health and pH so the soil can be optimized based on the region’s unique requirements and the tree species that have been selected. From there, a biological corridor is designed so native animal species can thrive as well.



Through Green My Experience’s “Project Greenhouse” program, local farmers were provided with greenhouses so they could grow the trees from seed. This keeps the project’s footprint smaller as seedlings aren’t being shipped in from outside the region, but just as importantly, creates a new revenue opportunity for local farmers who can then expand their greenhouse operation beyond the work they do for Green My Experience. 



With master plan and seedlings in hand SweetRush and Green My Experience’s vision was brought to life. Named La Maestra, “the teacher” this forest serves to educate all of those it serves through it’s educational tours, university internships, virtual and in-person programs for schools, and nature-based well being experiences for companies
